How to use this NCLEX pharmacology guide
- Identify the immediate risk. Ask whether the stem is testing airway, circulation, bleeding, glucose, infection, or a dangerous adverse effect before recalling a memorized fact.
- Check the hold or escalation clue. Heart rate, blood pressure, potassium, renal function, respiratory status, and a new neurologic change often determine the safest next step.
- Connect the drug to its monitoring plan. A medication name alone is not the answer; the relevant lab, timing, symptom pattern, or assessment is what makes the choice defensible.
- Read the exam trap. Each sheet separates a tempting but unsafe action from the priority action, so you can practice the reasoning rather than collect isolated flashcards.
